- SECTION 1
- THIS IS TBS Fixed Assets(TM)
-
- Thank you for your interest in TBS Fixed Assets(TM). TBS Fixed Assets
- is a program designed to track the fixed assets that a company owns,
- and to calculate the monthly depreciation expenses of those assets.
- This program will run on IBM PC, XT, AT, and compatiable computers.
-
- TBS Fixed Assets is a simple, yet powerful, fixed assets management
- program. A on-line, context sensitive help system provides help with
- the press of the F1 key. TBS Fixed Assets was written to provide a
- simple means of entering Fixed Assets and calculation the monthly
- depreciation expenses for those assets.
-
- TBS Fixed Assets gives you a simple, straightforward, menu driven
- system to allow for all operations, such as entering Assets, and
- printing reports. The only limit that you have on the number of assets
- in the file is the amount of disk space available to you.
-
- This document describes the installation and usage of TBS Fixed As-
- sets. It also describes many features and functions of the program.
- Once you begin using TBS Fixed Assets, you'll discover more about how
- it works from the on-line help facility and by experimenting with the
- various commands.

- SECTION 2
- INSTALLATION
-
- 2-1 System Requirements
-
- TBS Fixed Assets requires an IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2 or compatible com-
- puter with 384K RAM (or more) to work properly. In addition, version
- 2.0 or greater of PC-DOS or MS-DOS is required. TBS Fixed Assets
- requires approximately 280K of computer memory to contain the pro-
- gram's executable code and common data. Additional memory is allocated
- as required.
-
- TBS Fixed Assets works well with the IBM Monochrome Display Adapter
- (MDA), Color Graphics Adapter (CGA), Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA),
- Video Graphics Array (VGA), and compatibles. Other video adapters that
- can emulate either the MDA or CGA should work properly.
-
- 2-2 Installing TBS Fixed Assets
-
- Installing TBS Fixed Assets is a very simple process. Basically, we
- will be creating a subdirectory on the hard disk and coping the con-
- tents of the floppy disk to the subdirectory. The following makes the
- assumption that you will be copying from drive A: to your hard disk
- C:, and that the name of the subdirectory you will be using is ASSETS.
-
- C:>MD ASSETS
- C:>COPY A:*.* C:\ASSETS

-
- 3-3 Print Asset Reports
-
- There are three asset reports available. The Asset List just lists the
- asset numbers and descriptions, the Asset Report list all information,
- and the Asset Valuation report lists the cost and current book values
- for the assets, and totals these amounts.
-
- 3-4 Print and Post Monthly Depreciation
-
- ON A MONTHLY BASIS, YOU WILL NEED TO RUN THESE TWO STEPS!!
-
- The Print Monthly Depreciation Report list the amount of depreciation
- that will be charged to that asset for the current month. (This
- report should be saved after it is printed.)
-
- The Post Monthly Depreciation updates the YTD Depreciation and Total
- Depreciation by the amount in the Monthly Depreciation field. If this
- is a accelerated depreciation method, the system then calculates what
- the next months depreciation will be. (For 150DB and 200DB methods
- only).
-
- MAKE SURE THAT YOU BACK UP THE ASSET FILES BEFORE YOU RUN THIS STEP!!!

-
-
-
-
- 3-5 Print and Post Year-End Depreciation
-
- This step is similar to the Print and Post Monthly Depreciation with
- one major difference - Assets that have a status of R (for Retired)
- are deleted from the ASSET file during the post process.
-
- The Print and Post Monthly Depreciation process should be run 11 times
- per year, this step is run the last perion of the year in place of the
- monthly steps.
-
- Make sure that you print out an Asset List and a Asset Valuation
- Report both before and after you run this step.
